How we met

Joe and Margaret’s story started with a dinner invite, a painting, and a bit of luck. It all began when Joe’s roommate and co-worker, Lucas, dragged him along to dinner at Jeremy’s place. Joe didn’t know Jeremy, but he was never one to turn down good food and new faces.

While everyone else chatted, Joe found himself drawn to a painting set up on an easel. Intrigued, he jokingly nudged Jeremy, a talented painter, “So...when are you going to introduce me to your friend?” Jeremy grinned and said, “That’s Margaret, and if you’re lucky, you might meet her someday.”

Not too long after, “someday” arrived. At another dinner gathering, Joe finally met Margaret, the subject of the painting. They clicked right away—trading stories, laughter, and a spark that neither of them saw coming. Fast-forward more than a decade, and here they are, ready to celebrate the marriage that was, honestly, a long time coming.

The Proposal

On a chilly October morning in 2022, Joe and Margaret embarked on an early hike up Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park to catch the nation’s first sunrise. They set out at 4 a.m., navigating the dark with flickering headlamps and tackling the rocky trails. After nearly two hours of effort, they finally reached a beautiful clearing just as the first light began to peek over the horizon. Joe opened his backpack to grab some hand warmers — and the ring.
